That is of course Fremontedendron Tequila Sunrise (although the other type of Tequila Sunrise is perfectly acceptable as well) It was bred at Junkers Nursery where they crossed a rich orange form of Fremontodendron californicum with the large flowered bright yellow Fremontodendron ‘Pacific Sunset’ to produce “Tequila Sunrise”
The result is a wonderful plant with distinctly orange coloured flowers.
Given a sunny site with full drainage it will romp away and despite its annoying little hairs is one of the best wall shrubs for a warm sheltered corner…
I might just treat myself to one…
