You know, it is not easy being the speaker finder for a WI, Luncheon or Gardening Club.
First you have to find the speaker, then worry that they will turn up on time, and finally hope against hope that your members like them!
I hope the unsolicited comments below from groups that have booked Doug, will help to put your mind at rest.

I have just had a lovely letter from Bardsley Horticultural Society…
On behalf of the members of Bardsey Horticultural Society and myself, I would like to formally thank you for coming to talk to our February meeting.
From the laughter, you certainly entertained us at the same time as passing on tips and tricks. I can see more bottles of wine being drunk!

Wheldrake Gardening Club have just sent in a lovely email…
“I am pleased we have secured you again for 2014, you are the only speaker we have had every year since we started in 2007.”

This comment is from the committee of Seafarers UK in Hull. Doug has been speaking at their fund raising events for some years now.
Hi Doug,
Many thanks for last night, your presentation, which as usual, was excellent, humorous and informative. The comments from many of the audience, upon leaving, were all very positive viz:
- · “After seeing Doug tonight, I’m going to start listening to his Sunday radio show.”
- · “He (meaning you) never lets you down does he?”
- · What a fantastic night, thank you.”
- · “When is the next one?”
Some accolades eh? Well done Doug.
Over the last 3 years, yours has been the only one of our annual fund raising activities that has had a constant audience, and has always been enquired about. Yet another accolade for you.
May I thank you once again for all your efforts on our behalf, and wish you continued success for the future.

A gardening club visited recently writes…
“We all thoroughly enjoyed your topic and presentation. having heard you before we knew that everyone else was in for an entertaining evening and would have the benefit of your vast knowledge, common sense and computer wizardry – plus that all important sense of humour that keeps everyone’s attention from the first to the final word.”

A letter received from Kirk Hammerton Gardening Club
We would like to thank you very much for the marvellously entertaining talk that you gave the club last night.
The talk and presentation was perfectly pitched and we all enjoyed your tales and sense of humour! I heard many of the audience say what a wonderful evening it had been and very easy listening. (I suspect many were enjoying reminiscing) (The talk was The Way We Were – Doug)
Thank you so much for ending our annual programme with an evening of light hearted entertainment delivered with such enthusiasm. I am sure we will be inviting you back another year.
