It is really starting to feel and smell like autumn, the sun is lower in the sky, and the leaves are turning colour. Winter’s first frosts are not far away! However I am still enjoying every minute I am spending in the garden…

I am enjoying the wonderful Autumn Colour, and learning new, great, autumn plants to shoe-horn into the garden!

As this is the perfect time to plant trees, shrubs and bulbs, the spade, fork and trowel are being well used.

I am also surveying the perimeter of the garden checking fences before the winter winds begin.

I am also gathering everything I need to make leaf mould (wheelie bin bags with holes cut out of them are the main requirement)

I am also finishing harvesting the apples and pears…

While the soil is still warm and dry the last of the spring bedding is being planted.

I am also going to make this the year I grow my own mushrooms…

Happy Gardening
