Rachel Sussman is a contemporary artist based in Brooklyn, who for the last 10 years has been working on an astonishing project to document and photograph the oldest living things in the world.
To be included in this project Sussman has set the criteria that the organism, (with the exception of one coral all are plants) must be over 2000 years old, as this is when modern time can be considered to have started.
Watching her video on TED I was totally blown away by one of the both the images, the stories of the plants and the fact that 80 000 years is not the oldest living thing!
